In 2014, voters in Washington DC passed Initiative 71, also known as I-71, which permits the use and possession of cannabis for adults aged 21 or older. Under this law, adults are permitted to have up to 2 ounces of cannabis for personal use, and can gift up to 1 ounce to another adult who is also 21 or older. However, it's important to note that driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal, and possession of cannabis on federal property such as national parks and government buildings is prohibited.
